Persuasion was published posthumously in 1817/1818.

Written at the end of her life, this book is darker than her other books.

Anne Eliotte, persuaded by her mother's good friend Lady Russell, to break her engagement with a young sailor, still mourns her lost love eight years after...

However, everything changes when her former lover goes back to Britain, successful, and decides to find a new lover.
