About
Who?

The project was created by Anaïs Pierrart ( i.e., me), a French student during her junior year exchange in 2018-2019 at Michigan State University (MSU).

Why?

The JATP was created as a final project for the "Introduction to Digital Humanities" of the 2018 fall semester. Being a fan of Jane Austen, I thought it would be interesting to truly know where the characters lived and traveled ( I don't know if you're the same as me, but before the project, I had no idea where Somersetshire was). As a consquence my research question was: Did Jane Austen's heroines traveled in the same cities and if so, did these cities had a link to the author's personal life?
How ?

For the Project, I used two biographies of Jane Austen's life and a book regrouping all of her completed novels (see Sources & Thanks ).
To make the project alive, I used a text-analysis tool named Voyant and, above all, the Arcgis webmap. For more informations, go to the Methodology page.
